REPATRIATION AND EXPATRIATION

In the event of the death of a loved one occurring outside Zimbabwe, Harare Municipal Funeral Services is able to assist in the processing of all documentation required for the repatriation of the deceased back to Zimbabwe for burial.

Family members should contact a funeral service provider in the country where the death has occurred and provide them with Harare Municipal Funeral Services contact details.

In the event that death occurs in Zimbabwe and the deceased is to be buried in another country, Harare Municipal Funeral Services through our experienced team can process all the required documentation for the deceased to be buried in their country of birth.

 

The Required Documents for Repatriation of Human Remains to Zimbabwe

 1.    Passport (pages showing name, picture, date of issue and expiry)

 

2.    Death Certificate

3.    Burial Order

4.    Embalming Certificate

5.    Infectious/non-infectious certificate

6.    Coroner certificate/Permit to repatriate

7.    Postmortem report depending on the cause of death

8.    Non Hazardous/flammable goods declaration affidavit (by undertaker)

 

NB* All the original documents including the passport MUST accompany the human remains to enable the issuance of a burial order by the relevant authority on arrival after airport clearance.

Procedure: Fax all the original documents to us and we will obtain a clearance certificate from the relevant authorities.  We shall then fax the clearance certificate to you and that authorizes you to dispatch the human remains.

 

PLEASE NOTE DO NOT SEND THE HUMAN REMAINS UNLESS WE CONFIRM BY FAXING THE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE TO YOU.
